Kamado Nezuko Fanart

Back last year when there wasn't a pandemic or a lockdown yet, I was so disinterested in our Math lesson, that I started sketching Nezuko on a page of my graphing notebook. And here right now is my redraw of that sketch. If you wanna check out the "Before and After' comparison, feel free to go to the end of this post.

Hi, welcome to a page of my sketchpad!

What’s not to love about Demon Slayer? The artstyle’s iconic, the adaptation’s breathtaking, all the characters are lovable, the comedy’s very effective, the romance is cute, the soundtrack slaps, and the opening song is....oh my god. I swear I’ll never remove LiSA’s Gurenge in my Spotify playlist. Whenever I play it out loud, I and my siblings will sing out loud as well, even if we don’t know the Japanese lyrics. In the end we're just singing gibberish in tune and rhythm, though.

I'm most proud of

the fact that my experiment of outlining with a light color, turned out not bad at all! I was extremely nervous, but at the same time I feel the anticipation to see how it would look like. I made orange and pink my main theme in outlines, orange for the darker parts while pink for the lighter parts. I them tried out making my peach and apricot color pencils off-limits, and used orange and pink only as well. As a result, I’m so surprised that it actually looks the best skin tone I’ve ever done in any of my artworks! I’m so proud of myself. Another part of this artwork I really love is Nezuko’s hair. I really enjoyed drawing it, and I think it turned out well. I also put extra effort in the details of her pink kimono and its hemp leaf pattern, so I’m glad it’s as good as I expected it to be.

I'm not happy about

the black coat, maybe? Or black haori, if I’m not mistaken it’s called that way. If possible, I think I want to darken the parts with no shadow. I added layers of brown on black to differentiate the shade from Nezuko’s hair, but I think I made it a little too light, or leaning too much on the brown shade that it’s almost losing its black layer. Aside from that, I think I did a great job this time!

I think I won’t be trying out a light outline color again anytime soon, since it’s somehow still so scary with risks. I enjoyed today’s artwork piece though! It’d be so nice if all artworks turn out as satisfying as this QwQ. By the way, I’ve been seeing Nezuko fanarts and edits everywhere. Demon Slayer seems to be slaying the charts as well. Are you a fan yourself?
