Mouri Ran Fanart
These months I'm so into watching Detective Conan. I enjoy the progression of plot, and I enjoy trying to guess the mysteries every episode as well. The art style is just so unique that I didn't draw any character even ever since I started my phase. Well, I hesitated, but it's kind of a challenge that way so why not?

Hi, welcome to a page of my sketchpad!
Almost everyone who watches Detective Conan either gets bothered or gets curious about why would Ran get a cone on her head. In fact, that was actually supposed to be a curl in her hair. If you scroll through the very first chapters of Detective Conan, drew by the original mangaka Gosho Aoyama, Ran’s head definitely has a curl on the near-top, not a cone. However, as the art continues to progress and the helping artists or editors increase, the curl somehow eventually became a cone-like shape. So in today’s artwork, I tried to reimagine how Ran’s cone could be reinterpreted, but in my style.
I'm most proud of
how the hair looks like, with the fake wind effects going whooosh (char). The coloring looks quite decent as well, in terms of overall texture.
I'm not happy about
the fact that I failed to copy the eye shape, despite having references. Have you noticed the itty-bitty hand I gave Ran? Yep, that’s another one. I also can’t quite understand the creases in her sweater, along with the crease-less skirt I drew that looks so awkward now. The whatever she’s holding looks weird as well and I’ve got nothing to explain about that.
I went back to violet outlining because I expected it to look good on Ran. Plus, she has beautiful violet eyes as well, so I thought, “why not?” There are so much holes in this artwork, like the awkward way her shoulder is arched back, so I hope I can improve the next time I draw.
