Ogino Chihiro Fanart
Chihiro didn't make such a great impression on me at first. But as the story progressed, her character really grew on me. She carries the feeling of reality, but her kindness and purity is surreal. I think she'll become a respectable woman of the future.

Hi, welcome to a page of my sketchpad!
I have just watched Spirited Away with my big brother, because we were both trying to find new good anime's to watch, and remembered Studio Ghibli. I adore Chihiro’s character so much. Imagine that you’re a little girl who has always been in the comfort of one’s home and family, then you end up in an unfamiliar place where you don’t know what to do and don’t know who to trust. I’m so glad she got through her predicament. In addition to that, her natural kindness is just wonderful, even more so because she doesn’t seem to realize that herself. She’s straightforward but not insensitive. She’s young and petite but not a damsel in distress. If everyone in the world toss away their arrogance and pride, and strive more to be like Chihiro, what more could we ask for? And so, with the movie still fresh in my mind, I drew our lovely main character. Of course, I used a reference so as to not stray from her original design and color, but I wanted to revise her overall appearance to my art style.
I'm most proud of
the drawing of the hair, and the coloring. Yes, the coloring. If you would remember from my previous artwork of Erza in a school uniform, I wasn’t satisfied with the effect the brown shadows brought. However, when I tried it out again on Chihiro, with a significant more on darkness, to me it looked so great! Most probably it’s because the brown-ness this time gave a clear contrast as to where the lighting in the picture would be, and it looked particularly good on her clothes. Don’t you think so as well?
I'm not happy about
the coloring on the right side of her face. I don’t know, I don’t think it’s particularly bad, but if you look closely it actually looks so much rough than it needs to be. It’s like I wasn’t able to smoothen out the coloring when I still had the chance to.
So here it is, my version of a Chihiro fanart. For a more mature feel, I made her sleeves as long as a t-shirt’s, instead of the large baggy ones in the original film. Also, I changed the color of her lips from the original skin tone in my artwork, just for the same purpose. Oh, did you notice the slight redness in her eyelashes? I wanted to follow an example by an artist in YouTube whom I idolize, named ShinigamiArts, and used red color pencil as well for the eyelash coloring. It’s not bad, I think, and it kind of gave a variety of shades in my overall artwork. If you have a well-sharpened red color pencil, why don’t you try it out as well?
