Uzumaki Naruto Genderbend
Today is marked as one of my most important ones as an aspiring artist. Why? It's because I have found an art style of my own that I'm currently comfortable with! With the help of various inspirations from my artist friends to my favorite YouTubers, I have finally come across an artwork I can be proud of.
"It's not about being the best; it's about being better than you were yesterday."
Hi, welcome to a page of my sketchpad!
I present to you, Naruto’s Sexy Jutsu, Yuuki’s edition! I actually wasn’t thinking of that technique while working on this piece. I just mainly found a picture of a normal Naruto doing this pose, and I wanted to draw him in female version. The main reason I made a genderbent version of Naruto is,, because I can’t draw male characters. Not really “can’t” but I just gave up on trying every time a male character looked like a female as a result. Haaaah I of course I wanna improve, but I myself get so much cringe from just the sketch on a male piece. Anyways, now you know my anguish. Wait, do you have a similar one?
I'm most proud of
the fact that I found my new art style! I’m always confident with how my sketches turn out decent (for female characters), but when it comes to the outlining with a writing pen, everything just falls down. Not having the correct materials for art just hurts. I got inspired by a YouTuber named Huta-chan (please subscribe, she’s brilliant) and tried out outlining with a mega-sharpened color pencil. Herein I used brown, and I just love how it turned out! Oh, and another thing I love about this, is that it’s the first time in forever that I actually colored the layers without revealing much of the strokes! Not to mention, I’m still just using color pencils! It’s also the first time I mixed the skin color with light orange, so that’s actually my biggest risk taken in this piece. Of course, I still need to improve here and there, but for my standards right now, this artwork is the first I can really be proud of enough to show other people, like you! Another thing, I also feel like I made a decent form in terms of anatomy, but maybe that’s just because I had a clear reference of the original picture.
I'm not happy about
what’s underneath the top clothes, because well, that part’s an original. Of course, I haven’t found my groove in coloring shadows, so I barely clicked at the parts that I have a reference with, but the original parts just like the one I mentioned, I’ll just be thinking “what the hell am I doing?” right after I color. Aside from that, I think it’s not a bad drawing at all, in terms of overall appearance.
Oh, I just wanna add, leaving white highlights in the hair was another major risk I made. I never make hair highlights, because I’m not brave enough to try to ruin the character’s hair, my favorite part to color. I was veeery careful, and now I’m happy I tried it out for this piece. Uhmm, I have no idea how to end this blog lol, so yea thanks for visiting!
