Zodiac Scorpio as Anime Girl

Being born on the 11th of April, I'm actually an Aries person. Why did I draw Scorpio instead of Aries? Well, no serious reason really, I just thought brainstorming for Aries's design as well, but I can't find my way around the horns, so I gave up.

Today's random idea made me draw a zodiac sign into a girl! I switched back to using brown for outlining and shadows, because I thought it will fit the expected color scheme more than violet. It's a different brown though, so I didn't need to worry about a too short color pencil. Nevertheless, I think my judgement proved itself because I'm satisfied with the overall color visuals with the slight yellow highlights.

I'm most proud of

the hair, the hair, the hair, the hair, and the hair. Although I don’t really understand the details much, my plan for a gradient really pulled through! On top of that, doing the strong-light-strong stroke in using color pencils turned out well too. As a result, the hair portrays some slight shine and volume. Moreover, I feel very satisfied with the outfit which of course, like everything else in this artwork, is my original! I was thinking of how I could make it inspired with a scorpion’s body, but oh well. Lastly, I’m glad I survived the hand part, and it actually looks quite good!

I'm not happy about

the fact that she looks so scared somehow. My older sister also pointed that out first and foremost when she saw my artwork. I can take it as a variety from the expressions I usually draw in my artwrks, but it wasn’t really planned. It somehow just happened. Now that I think about it, the limbs look wonky as hell. Maybe because the arms look so long and I have no idea how to determine the joints. I’ve got to work on my anatomy for real haaahhh..

Drawing the accessories was one of the most fun parts in this artwork. I was going for a rich girl appearance at first, but in the end I’m not even sure if I achieved that expectation. I enjoyed reimagining a zodiac sign, so I think I might do another one soon!
